Talks

lotus

Acupuncture is a trusted ancient Chinese system of healing, well-being and prevention of illness which is being integrated into the healthcare systems of many western countries including the NHS. However many people in the United Kingdom are unsure of what Acupuncture is, and how it works. It is for this reason that we implemented the facility to give talks or formal presentations to groups/organisations within the community. This allows people to find out more about Acupuncture and how it would be useful for you or someone you know.

List of available talks/ formal presentations:

Introduction to Acupuncture

Acupuncture and the 5 Elements

Acupuncture and the relation to Seasons

Acupuncture for fertility/pregnancy

Acupuncture and Parkinson’s disease

Acupuncture for Arthritis

Depression

Men’s health

Women’s health

About the presenters:

Rachel Pattison LicAc BSc(Hons) MBAcC BA(Hons)

Rachel has a wealth of presenting experience dating back to her university days. She is a confident and approachable speaker whether it be to small or large groups of people. Prior to training as an Acupuncturist, Rachel spent some time teaching English as a foreign language to adults in South East Asia, Argentina and England. This taught Rachel to present information in a dynamic and engaging way, while also meeting individual needs.

Rachel is a practising Acupuncturist who enjoys talking about Acupuncture and the philosophy behind it because the subject matter is so captivating, and there is always something new to learn. Rachel attends continued professional development courses to further inspire and deepen her practice. She likes to keep up to date with current research within acupuncture; currently she has taken a special interest into research on how Acupuncture can help fertility. Rachel practices Acupuncture in Tunbridge Wells and East Grinstead.

She spent most of her media career developing relationships and partnerships with blue chip companies around the world.  She has excellent communication, business and leadership skills and is comfortable in both informal meetings as well as large-scale presentations and speaking opportunities.

Tracey has widely travelled, both for work and pleasure and it was during a number of months spent in China and Tibet that Tracey developed her fascination and passion for Chinese medicine and acupuncture.

Tracey practices acupuncture in Bromley, Greenwich and Central London.  She has experience of working in a multi-bed acupuncture clinic that enables increased frequency and accessibility of treatments.   Tracey has a keen interest in neurological diseases and is currently working in a clinic dedicated to patients with Parkinsons Disease.

Deirdre Staffurth LicAc BSc(Hons) MBAcC BA(Hons)

Deirdre has always believed in a balanced lifestyle to stay healthy in body and mind. She views acupuncture as part of a natural way to achieve this equilibrium and practises yoga, Tai Qi and pilates to support this balance.  Her conviction that acupuncture can help almost anyone to maintain health and recover from injury, stress and illness is a driving factor in her desire to share this knowledge with you.

Deirdre has excellent communication skills, having always worked in roles that required an ability to effectively get her message across.  Her first professional work was in industrial journalism, where she interviewed leaders of international companies and wrote for a worldwide readership. Teaching English as a foreign language gave her confidence and versatility in presentation skills while marketing/editorial work for the Tourist Board broadened her ability in engaging a large and varied audience.   Prior to studying acupuncture Deirdre was an adviser for the Citizens Advice Bureau where, on a daily basis, she helped people of all ages and from all walks of life, to understand complicated issues. She is registered to practise with Tonbridge & Malling BC and Sevenoaks DC.
